There were many people at the opening reception. Many of them seemed to have some sort of relation to the artists of the gallery. My job was to talk to the observers and have them come and interview with Van.
It was difficult to go up to talk to people because many were in groups and didn’t seem to want to get interviewed. A lot of the people I talked to were somewhat interested in getting interviewed, but they didn’t want to commit or take some time out of their day to get interviewed. Some said that they’d stop by at the office space to talk to Van but I wasn’t sure if they really were going to do what they said. It seemed to me that some came up with excuses to avoid getting interviewed.
I personally really liked the gallery. I liked seeing what the graduate students came up with. It was different for me to look at the work of some people I know compared to pieces by famous artists that I didn’t know. It encouraged me to continue on with art as a major.
